The vulcano effect

The whole of the world is paralized due to one vulcano in Iceland.
My flight to Germany got cancelled yesterday, so the kids were happy I stayed at home. I am just glad this happened while I was still at home and not stuck in another country.
The downside is that my orders also seem to be stuck. I hope things will get back to normal this week.

Yesterday my 15 year old has left for a schooltrip to York. I am really curious how she gets on there. My goodness, they grow up so quickly...

I have also tried out a really easy cream (or rather lotion) with sucragel. This stuff is so easy to work with. I had a cream in only 5 minutes flat. I have posted the recipe on the site for those who are interested.

I am back and double the fun!

I know, I know, it has been a while. I do have a good excuse though.

Almost four months ago I started feeling a bit strange, you know, sore breasts, nauseous, tired etc. After doing a little test it was very clear: WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY.
Eventhough we are very happy there was only one thing on my mind the past few months: sleep, sleep, sleep. I have never slept so much in my life.

Now all symptoms have gone and my belly is starting to show. This, combined with the lovely spring wheather has given me renewed energy.
Finaly I revamped the website and started to get inspiration to try new things in my soap kitchen.

This week I made some lovely bath bombs for the fair at my sons school. They smell like spring flowers and have some lovely roses in it. I will post the recipe and some pictures in the bath bomb recipe section.

Bubble, bubble, bubble bar

Sometimes you try things and they go horribly wrong. Sometimes you try things and they go terribly right. Well I got both in one week.

Firstly I tried to use my new neon colours in a CP soap. The colours I chose were neon green and pink, exactly the right colours an 80's band had in the Netherlands (DoeMaar). I got flash backs of fingerless gloves and leg warmers, but then again that is how my sweet daughter dresses as well, so who is old fashioned now?
Anyway, I made the soap and at light trace I added the soap to the neon colours that I pre-mixed with some glycerine. I noticed a slight smell from the green as I mixed, but thought this would go away. I put in some apricot PO and it smelled even worse. Still thinking it was nothing I started pouring and it went really wrong. The green batch started to split and messed up my pink too. Now there was nothing left to do. I put it away hoping it would turn out not so bad as it looked. The smell of bad soap and sweet apricot was nausiating, so I did not make friends at home.
The next day it looked like neon rice pudding gone hard with a thick layer of oil on top. Still smelly, so I felt there was only one way of doing justice to this soap... of in the bin. I even forgot to take a pic for the record.

After recovering from my soapaster, I decided to try my newly tweaked bubble bar recipe. As the first one went well, I decided to see it I could make a success of the next ones as well, so I made 4 and they worked every time. I feel really happy I have figured it out.

My personal fav is the Spa Bar. The scent is much nicer than I thought out of the bottle.

My son has a new favourite. First it was the Blue Apple.

But today he tried the ChocoVanilia and loved it. Very bubbly and a nice warm scent. Could hardly get him out of the bath.

The one than makes my whole house smell is the 5 B's (BlueBerryBubbleBathBar).

Now I found that I can actually replicate the recipe I am going to develop the BubbleBathBar line for the shop. Hopefully I can develop some nice ones for the christmas markets as well.

Soapy weekend ending with a bang

This weekend I have had a great time soaping 4 times. The last soap was for a soap swap and was a real drama. The soap got rock hard as soon as the perfume hit the soap.
It asked for some hard handed handling, so I banged it in the floor to make it settle. Then it happened... a drop of soap splashed in my eye.

After washing my eye for 10 minutes we decided it was better to consult a doctor. Thankfully there is no permanent damage, but it thought me to stay alert and use my protective clothes and glasses.

Paint everywhere

This weekend we started painting the door and window frames on the 1st floor. These have been in an unpainted state for a couple of years now and they now deserve a nice white coat of paint. I always thought I was a pretty good painter, but this weekend I found out that it IS possible to paint and not get covered from head to toes in paint. Unfortunately I did get paint on my clothes, my arms, legs and in my hair, I also managed to get spots on the floor.
Then I noticed that Pat was painting without newspapers on the floor and in his normal cloths. He never got even a drop on himself. For once I have to admit defeat, as my clothes are ready for the bin. I guess I should let him finish off the rest of the house....

Recently I bought some great molds and I just have not gotten round to trying them all. Today I did try my lemonade mold and made a nice two-tone lemonade that smells like candy. Eddy loves it and kept wanting to smell. I can think of so many great coctails to fix, so I am sure it will be used a lot.

Welcome to my world!

After reading so many blogs of my colleagues from all over the world, I feel it is time to step into the modern world and share parts of my life with the world.

I will share with you my passion for soap and all things creative. I love all kinds of soap, from CP to cream soap to Glycerine, as it all has its challenges and possibilities.

My children keep my creative juices flowing as they always challenge my mind with new projects. My 14 year old daughter is always looking for scrubs, creams and other potions that will make her even more beautifull. My 8 year old son, however, prefers funny soaps, fizzies and "christmas-tree-hair-gel" (to have hard, green spikes).

I will share my creative adventures and everyday adventures here, so I hope to entertain you here regularly.
